Gayatri Machine Tools

Industrial machinery

The brief

Gayatri Machine Tools manufactures and maintains heavy machinery. The work here was not a website — it was the software the workshop runs on. We built a system covering inventory, production tracking and maintenance scheduling, designed around how the floor already worked rather than around how software usually expects a factory to behave.

The challenge

Workshop software fails when it asks people to change how they work. The existing process lived in a mix of registers, spreadsheets and memory, and any system that made a job take longer to record than it took to do would simply be ignored. Maintenance scheduling was the hardest part: machines are serviced on a mixture of running hours, calendar intervals and whatever the operator notices, and all three had to be reflected without turning the screen into a form.

The result

One system covering stock, production and maintenance, built to match the existing workflow rather than replace it. The workshop records what it was already tracking, in one place, with a history that can be looked back through.
